Hello! I am Annalise Allen, a soon-to-be graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design with a B.F.A. in Dramatic Writing and a minor in Advertising: Copywriting.

I grew up in Albany, Georgia, and attended Deerfield-Windsor School, whose Art Department introduced me to both visual and performing arts. Whether it be on stage or in the art studio, I was encouraged to express myself creatively. Throughout high school, I participated in the One Act Play Competition and the Spring Musical, both of which I credit with inspiring me to pursue dramatic writing at SCAD. I loved the stories we told on stage and wanted to explore the writing side of it after acting throughout school.

During my first year at SCAD, I took my first screenwriting class and fell in love with it. I knew that I wanted to write professionally and declared my major as soon as I could. Through the dramatic writing department, I had the opportunity to meet with my professors and learn so much about the industry through them. I also received guidance in developing my skills as a writer over those four years, and I will forever be grateful for the education I received.

I’ve also explored other avenues of creative expression, working as a costume assistant on the student film “Off World,” which was shot on SCAD’s LED Volume Stage in Savannah, as well as being the costume designer and concept artist on the short film “The Fallen Cadet.”

In the Summer of 2024, I had the wonderful opportunity to be a playwriting intern at the Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville, Georgia, where I wrote and helped produce a play for children ages 4-7. “Believe It or Not” introduced skills of singing, acting, and dancing for these first-time actors. I also realized that I loved working with this age group and discovered the importance of creative education.

When I’m not writing or pursuing my studies, I tend to spend my time cooking, baking, and hanging out with friends and family. I find inspiration when I’m around the people I love and these experiences often find another life in the stories I write. I enjoy music and church when I am home, and look for the beauty in the natural surroundings wherever I go.

I am excited for the future and look forward to working with others in sharing stories with the world. After all, inspiration is everywhere, and we all have the potential to be creative.
